Some of San Antonio’s most secluded speakeasies are hidden in plain sight, if you only know how to find them. We’re not going to give away all the secrets, but some speakeasies are harder to get into than others, so you might need to get creative.

Here are six places for you to try on your next night out.

Green Lantern, 20626 Stone Oak Parkway, #101

Beware the lantern’s light because the Cucumber Martnini will have you feeling like a superhero.

Bar 1919, 1420 S. Alamo St.

Found in the heart of the Blue Star Arts Complex, this ode to prohibition is located down a flight of a dimly-lit staircase, as well as a hidden entrance — if you found the red light, you’re in the right place. Visitors can enjoy handcrafted cocktails, fine whiskey selections, and more.

One of San Antonio’s best-kept secrets, this award-winning watering hole serves up unique house-made cocktails, classic drinks, and infused shots. This hidden neighborhood spot is perfect for a chill date night on the town.

Located in Taqueria Los Cuates, head inside towards the back to find the walk-in freezer door which will lead you to this reservation-recommended drink spot.

St. Peters Cocktail Bar, 14743 Old Bandera Rd. #9

The Bang Bang Bar, 119 El Mio St.

This vinyl-spinning, dart board-throwing, skee ball-tossing saloon opened up in 2016 and offers wacky drink + food options such as a Michelada topped with a whole turkey leg. Yeah, we’re hungry too.

Civic

The City of San Antonio Metropolitan Health District is conducting a survey seeking input about Bexar County resident’s access to healthcare during the COVID-19 pandemic. Fill out the quick questionnaire to have your voice heard + provide feedback about how to improve the city’s healthcare system.

Bexar Kolaches is temporarily closing at the end of the month to find a new space. The popular Czech-Texan kolache maker is inviting the public to grab a bite to eat during its store hours from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its location on 819 Fredericksburg Rd. before Sunday, Dec. 24.

Real Estate

The downtown Commerce Building sold for an undisclosed amount to local real estate company, Weinritter Realty. The building was listed in October for $5.35 million and is one of the top 20 contenders for an apartment conversion. (SA Business Journal)

Jersey Mike’s is cooking up its newest location in Seguin, just north of San Antonio. According to a filing, the $250,000 construction project begins in February 2024, with a completion date around August 2024. You can find the new 1,200-sqft sandwich spot in the King Plaza Shopping Center.
