Did you think we only covered the NBA Draft? Think again.

This week, the United Football League (UFL) hosted the 2024 UFL College Draft. In this league, there are only eight teams versus 32 in leagues like the NFL and NBA. Let’s break down draft day and who’s going to wear the yellow + black for the Brahmas in 2025.

✍️ Draft details

This draft is a little different than the major league sports ones. Each team in the UFL selects 10 players. Here’s how the player eligibility works:
  • Players must have been eligible for the 2024 NFL Draft but were not selected.
  • Each team holds exclusive rights to the players selected until the player reports to the team.
  • All players must have been out of high school for at least three years and exhausted or waived their college eligibility.

🏈 The picks are in

Of the 10 players selected, five are from Texas with one of those players being from UTSA — birds up.

Gabe Hall
This defensive tackle from Baylor played in 47 career games for the Bears and is originally from Waller, Texas.

Gabriel Murphy
Starting off his career at North Texas, the offensive linebacker from UCLA was an honorable mention All-Pac 12 in 2023.

Donvan Jennings
The offensive tackle from USF appeared in 55 career games.

Miles Battle
Originally from Houston, this corner back from Utah played in 13 games in 2023.

Beau Brade
This defensive back from Maryland earned honorable mention All-Big Ten twice.

Sincere Haynesworth
The Pearland native started in 63 games as a center at Tulane.

D.J. Miller, Jr.
Miller picked up 50 tackles while starting 11 out of 12 games as cornerback at Kent State.

Joshua Cephus
This wide receiver from UTSA finished his collegiate career with 3,639 receiving yards on 313 receptions.

If you’ve never tried the Saint Arnold Citrus Shandy, I highly recommend trying it out at the brewery’s event this Sunday. It’s a light beer with notes of lemon and grapefruit. In my opinion, it’s a great summer beer.
