Giddy up San Antonio. It’s time to wrangle in the family to celebrate the legacy of the women of the West. We can’t forget the cowboys + vaqueros who wrangled the West with them.

The Briscoe Western Art Museum is hosting its annual National Day of the Cowboy celebration happening Saturday, July 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free community event includes admission to the museum and its exhibitions, including all the indoor + outdoor activities. Fun fact: Texas declared it a day of honor in 2015.

This year’s event pays homage to the cowgirls’ role in the West. Cowboys + girls of all ages can enjoy:

  • Live music by The Barditch Hippies
  • Games + crafts
  • Cowboy poetry with Don Mathis
  • A chuck wagon with cowboy treats
  • Special appearance by Miss Rodeo Texas Teen, Katelyn Collins
  • Artist demonstrations

Pro tip: Pre-register to enjoy the free Western fun.
