San Japan returns to San Antonio this weekend

Over 21,000 people attended the San Japan 2022 convention.

San Japan, the largest anime and gaming convention in the South Texas Region, will return to the Henry B. González Convention Center on Friday, Sept. 1-Sunday, Sept. 3. While many details are still to come, here’s everything we know:

  • This year’s theme is “We Ship It!” (navy/boats).
  • Registration will begin on Wednesday, March 1.
  • Online registration is $67.85 for a three-day pass. This price will rise after May 15.
  • One and two-day passes will become available in July.
  • Limited quantities of Gold ($275) and Premiere ($196.50) passes will go on sale on Saturday, July 1.
  • On-site registration will be available, but pass quantities will be limited and pricing information will be released on Saturday, July 15.
  • Premier events will include the Masquerade Dance, Cosplay Contest, and Anime Car Show.
  • Artist Alley tables will go on sale on Sunday, March 5.

San Japan’s website is currently going through updates, but all information should be finalized by Monday, Feb. 20.
