Leave the kiddos at home for this foodie adventure. Steak and seafood fans alike will flock to this downtown oasis. Located on the first floor of the newly opened Kimpton Santo Hotel, lies a quiet, luxurious restaurant known as Dean’s Steak and Seafood.
“Are we in San Antonio?”
As a matter of fact we are, but it won’t feel like it as you walk through the doors of Dean’s. The mood lighting transports you to a botanical garden with lush greenery and soft music — making this a perfect date night spot.
The restaurant features booth and table seating, with individual spots posted up around the fresh seafood bar, which is shipped in daily. It’s daily offerings include breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Brunch is offered on the weekends only.
Fun fact: The restaurant inhabits a former 19th century German-English school house that closed in 1903.
What to try
Do you study the menu before trying out a new spot? We can’t be the only ones. As per usual at a steak house, there’s a lot of meat options on the dinner menu. With guidance from staff member Grace, here’s what we recommend trying:
A5 Hot Stone Wagyu | Served with a hot stone, thins slices of wagyu, a chimichurri sauce, and pickled cucumbers.
Bone Marrow | This appetizer spreads like butter on the grilled bread topped with tomato jam and sprinkled with fresh parsley.
Baked Mac & Cheese | This shareable side comes with plump noodles, Chihuahua + cheddar cheeses, and topped with bread crumbs. Pro tip: Add the lobster to elevate your experience.
The Classic | Cut into a 8oz filet covered in king crab, with asparagus and a truffle béarnaise. This pairs nicely with a bold red wine, thanks to a recommendation by the restaurant’s sommelier.
The Alamo | This dish comes with a broiled lobster tail, bone marrow butter, and a 8oz filet.
