You’ll find five local chefs and an eatery are up for an award based on excellence and other factors like commitment to the community. But it’s an honor just to be nominated — getting on the James Beard radar is a game changer for any chef or restaurant, no matter how long they’ve been around.
Here’s are your local semifinalists:
- Christopher Cullum, Cullum’s Attaboy (Best Chef: Texas)
- Andrew Ho, Andrew Samia, and Sean Wen, Curry Boys BBQ (Best Chef: Texas)
- Jennifer Hwa Dobbertin, Best Quality Daughter (Best Chef: Texas)
- David Kirkland + Ernest Servantes, Burnt Bean Co. (Outstanding Chef)
- Mixtli (Outstanding Restaurant)
Mark your calendars for Wednesday, April 3, when the finalists will be announced. Then, stay tuned for the Monday, June 10 ceremony in Chicago where the winner are revealed.
