“The stars at night... are big and bright.” Texans don’t need to sing “Deep in the Heart of Texas” to know how great our state is, but soon the culinary world will be humming right along. Michelin and Travel Texas have teamed up to bring the Michelin Guide — and its renowned stars — to the Lone Star State.

Set to launch later this year, the first Michelin Guide Texas will feature culinary gems in San Antonio, Fort Worth, Dallas, Houston, and Austin — showcasing the hottest sizzling Tex-Mex, juiciest barbecue, and cultural recipes that inspire gastronomy worldwide.

Michelin’s anonymous inspectors are already eating their way across Texas, evaluating restaurants based on: Quality, flavor harmony, cooking techniques, chef’s personality, and consistency.

While we anxiously await the official guide, we figured we’d create one of our own. We asked: What San Antonio restaurant or chef do you think should have a Michelin Star? Here’s what you said:

Reader E. Cole suggests The Purple Garlic Cafe — an Italian cafe in the Hollywood Park neighborhood.

Sean R. believes Sichuan House deserves a star. Fun fact: This establishment was featured on The Food Network’s “Diners Drive-Ins and Dives.

Reba L. wants the American restaurant Bliss to receive a Michelin Star.

Tami D. enjoys eating at Tripoli’swe can see why thanks to its 4.3 star rating on Google.

Instagram user @its.rebeccaking recommends Krazy Katsu.

@mik_rae_ suggests Mixtli.

Lastly, @itsaaronv thinks Tokyo Cowboy and Best Quality Daughter deserves a Michelin Star.
