Hemisfair, the site of the 1968 Worlds Fair, is getting a new park — Civic Park — near the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center. After a few set backs, phase one of Civic Park is scheduled to open in downtown San Antonio this fall.

We have been eagerly waiting for the park to open since its ground breaking ceremony in January 2022, so we wanted to provide you with a few quick updates that will hold you over until the phase one grand opening.

  • Take a virtual tour of Civic Park progress with the Director of External Relations for Hemisfair, Meredith Blazen.
  • The 200+ trees grown by Hemisfair since 2018 are currently being planted along the promenade.
  • Grass is scheduled to be planted in the Great Lawn in the next month.
  • The Springs — Civic Park’s water feature — will have five pools where visitors can dip their feet in and rest.
