Unknown number calling? It’s not random

Presented by Incogni

Using hidden cameras, the BBC caught workers at a scam call center laughing at the people they were tricking.

The disturbing truth? Scammers don’t pick phone numbers at random. They buy your data from brokers.

Once your data is out there, it’s not just calls. It’s phishing, impersonation, and identity theft.

That’s why Incogni stands out. The data removal service deletes your personal info from the web, then continuously monitors and removes new data as fresh threats emerge.

News Notes

Traffic

Beep, beep. Expect delays on I-35 North — a weeks-long closure has begun on two upper-level right lanes between I-10 and McCullough Avenue. The lanes will remain closed through November as crews work on bridge joint repairs. (MySA)

Coming Soon

The Toasted Yolk Cafe is set to debut its first San Antonio restaurant on Monday, Nov. 10. Foodies can look forward to inventive brunch dishes like the Cowboy Scramble and the Yolkwich alongside cocktails like the Rise ‘N’ Shine Punch and Jackie’s Morning Rita. We’ll toast to that. (PR Newswire)

Closed

After eight years of slinging beer and fish and chips, The Winchester has permanently closed its doors. The British pub in the Alamo Heights neighborhood was sold to a new owner earlier this year, but the reason behind its sudden closure is unclear. (San Antonio Current)

Regional

Buc-ee’s is officially headed to Boerne. Following years of discussion, the Boerne City Council approved a revised economic development agreement on Monday, clearing the way for the travel center to build one of its most accessible and environmentally friendly locations yet. (MySA)

Transit

The Travis County Commissioners Court approved $125,000 in funding to conduct a study about potentially creating a commuter rail between Austin and San Antonio last week. The study is expected to wrap in March 2026. (Austin Monitor)

Plan Ahead

Walk, run, or trot alongside 1,100+ fellow locals at the Boerne Family YMCA 14th Annual Turkey Trot 5K & 10K, returning Saturday, Nov. 22, in support of community initiatives. Pro tip: Register by Halloween for a festive T-shirt + commemorative medal.*

Post of the Day

Instagram post from @isidoresatx announcing that Isidore has received a Michelin Green Star and a Michelin Star for 2025. The image shows the restaurant’s name “isidore” in white text over a warmly lit wooden shelf decorated with pottery and plants. Below, the Michelin Green Star and Michelin Star symbols are displayed with the text “MICHELIN GREEN STAR 2025” and “MICHELIN 2025.” The caption reads: “So this just happened. We’re incredibly grateful for this recognition by @michelinguide…” followed by messages of congratulations in the comments.

San Antonio is shining a little brighter this week — the MICHELIN Guide to Texas 2025 has officially arrived.

Isidore, a dinner spot celebrating “the bounty of Texas,” and Nicōsi, a multicourse dessert experience inside Pullman Market, each earned one MICHELIN Star. Mixtli also held onto its Star awarded in 2024.

The Alamo City also boasts new Green Star honorees and Bib Gourmand recipients. Get the full guide.
