The Lone Star State just earned a few more stars — 15 to be exact. Michelin and Travel Texas teamed up to launch the first Michelin Guide Texas, and the inaugural stars were awarded in Houston earlier this week.
Four San Antonio eateries received a Bib Gourmand Award for offering a high-quality meal at a reasonable price. Here are our winners:

Seven Alamo City restaurants were given Michelin recommendations — not quite a star, but a nod to culinary excellence:
One San Antonio restaurant made history — give a huge round of applause for Mixtli. This innovative Mexican eatery now has one Michelin Star and was given the Michelin Service Award.

Legendary country singer Dolly Parton is collaborating with Kendra Scott on a new jewelry collection to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Parton’s song “Love Is Like A Butterfly.” The collection features items like butterfly rings, necklaces, and bracelets. (KENS 5)

The VIA Metropolitan Transit Board of Trustees voted unanimously earlier this week to appoint a new President and CEO. Jon Gary Herrera will assume the role on Saturday, Jan. 4. Herrera will lead the transit authority’s efforts to improve public transportation in the Alamo City with its Advanced Rapid Transit projects.

The Spurs released an update on Head Coach Gregg Popovich’s health. On Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Frost Bank Center, Popovich suffered a mild stroke. He’s expected to make a full recovery, but the team hasn’t revealed a timeline on when we can expect him back courtside. Feel better, Pop.

The Great Northwest neighborhood’s H-E-B is getting a $3.4 million upgrade. Construction is slated to start in June 2025, and will focus on interior remodeling. (San Antonio Business Journal)
Legacy
Jorge Cortez, a second generation member of the family behind Mi Tierra, died on Monday, Nov. 11 at the age of 81. Memorial services are soon to be announced. (KENS 5)
