Did you know San Antonio is home to 20+ great craft breweries? Local brewers are constantly tapping their creative juices to drum up crafty collaborations, standout recipes, and fun names for their frothy masterpieces.
As we celebrate Drink Up Week, we’d like to raise a glass to four San Antonio-centric brews with names that draw inspiration from our city’s history, communities, and culture.
This beer’s name gets straight to the local point — and we respect that.
Style + flavor: This 5.8% ABV brew features fruit + floral aromas and pairs well with meals like fajitas and chile relleno. It’s hoppy but less bitter than an IPA.
The name of this brew calls out the numbers that matter most — San Antonio’s area code. Busted Sandal Brewing says it was “crafted with our hometown of San Antonio in mind.”
Style + flavor: The brewery describes this 6.1% ABV year-round beer as “delicate” and “lightly sweet,” with a clean + crisp finish.
OK, so this is a seltzer — but we wrangled it up anyway. The name was inspired by the annual San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, which takes over the Frost Bank Center + Freeman Coliseum each February.
Style + flavor: According to the brewery, this seltzer “tastes just like sweet tea… but with a 5% ABV kick.”
Ah, we can just hear it now: Matthew McConaughey’s iconic catchphrase as David Wooderson in the Texas-based flick, “Dazed and Confused.” With its groovy can art, this 1970s-style pilsner is a mood. Fun fact: This beer won gold at the 2022 Great American Beer Festival.
Style + flavor: This 4.5% ABV beer combines pilsner malt + lager yeast for a clean, crisp finish and “refreshing vibes for days.”

The resort in north San Antonio is dishing out a new food concept. Let us introduce you to its newest dining outlet called FIAMME Pizzeria. Meaning “flames” in Italian, the restaurant is serving a selection of Neapolitan pizza, Italian-inspired appetizers, salads, and desserts.
Not familiar with Neapolitan pizza? Reigning from Naples, Italy, this style of pizza is typically made with simple + fresh ingredients. It’s baked at 900 degrees for at least two minutes in a Morello Forni dome mosaic pizza oven. This creates the light, fluffy crust with a crispy outside layer that we know and love.
Don’t miss: Try the resort’s signature Hill Country Honey Blonde Beer or the Desert Door Paloma Preserve at the pizzeria.

One of my favorite local breweries to visit is Alamo Beer Company. I like to order a pint of its Golden Ale and catch up with my friends. If you sit outside when the weather is nice, you can enjoy the view of the iconic Hays Street Bridge. My dog Benny occasionally joins me on a trip — we’re overdue for an outing.
