Homeownership is relatively affordable in San Antonio compared to other city metros. However, once you start to factor in day-to-day repairs, maintenance, and upgrades, you’re looking at a CVS receipt-length of costs. Thanks to these local rebates, incentives, and programs — you might be able to save some green, often by going green. A win win.

Weatherization

Who doesn’t love free? Let us introduce you to the Casa Verde Program by CPS Energy. For income-qualifying homeowners + renters, you can get a weatherization kit that includes free upgrades for attic insulation, air-sealing measures, LED light bulb replacements, duct sealing, and wall insulation.

Going solar

In sunny San Antonio, solar panels are a great way to cut energy bills, but they can be a huge investment. To offset the costs, homeowners with a solar system can utilize a 30% federal tax credit in 2024.

Don’t know where to start? Check out our solar panel guide and take a look at Bring Solar Home’s website. Here you’ll learn the fundamentals of installing solar panels on your home, deciding if it’s right for you, and applying for technical assistance.

Adding a money tree

Money may not grow on trees, but with CPS Energy’s Green Shade Program you can save some green by adding green. Simply plant up to five qualifying tree species and you’ll receive a $50 rebate for each tree planted. Be quick, applications for the rebate are on a first come-first served basis and are due on Wednesday, May 15.

That new jersey smell (not be confused with the state of New Jersey). San Antonio FC (SAFC) announced Community First Health Plans as a new team jersey partner. This is the first professional sports partnership for the organization and is the only locally owned + managed non-profit health plan in the 210. Community First’s logo appears across the center of the first team jersey and practice gear.

Don’t have an SAFC jersey? Snag a new one on the team’s online shop today.

Beyond the patch

Outside of the shiny logo, Community First plans to make the soccer-going experience more inclusive with its sponsoring of ADA seating areas at Toyota Field in select seats across Sections 123, 127, 103 and 107.

In addition to the ADA seat sponsorship, the new partner will also fund the club’s first-ever sensory area pod, which will serve as a soothing space for those with sensory sensitivities.

The Buy

Chips and salsa, because honestly, is there a better snack? Sobremesa’s salsa is well worth the chip dip with flavors including layered, complex Mole Poblano + spicy Smoky Salsa Oaxaqueña.
