City Editors Nicholas and Adriana here — look, we all know some days are tougher than others. Allowing yourself to have a good, hard sob in the proper setting can often be cathartic and can help you work through whatever it is that’s bothering you in a healthy way.
To that end, here are four places around the 210 where we like to have a good cry. Let’s set the mood, Alexa, play “Hurt” by Johnny Cash.
1604 (Weekdays 4-6 p.m.), West or East
Listen, the construction isn’t going to be finished any time soon — it’s been going on for 63 years — and if you’re heading west towards Bandera Rd., that sudden three-lane merge into two causes a clog. It’s just the best vibe to dramatic sob whilst listening to “Mad Woman” by Taylor Swift.
Picture this: You’re sitting under the black and white striped umbrellas, pondering why you let a situationship happen. Maybe your mascara is runny but that’s okay, because an Oreo Croissant never broke anyone’s heart.
Were you just stood up? Don’t fret, take in the city skyline and the San Antonio River. In the words of the all-wise Samantha Jones from “Sex and the City”, “If he seems too good to be true, he probably is.” Was she ever wrong?
Ran into your high school ex while picking up some sugar? How about getting into the car and being gobsmacked at the price tag on the receipt? Either reason is good cause for us to tuck under a blanket and cry...good thing you have one in your car for this moment.

9,191. That’s the new attendance record at Toyota Field. Fans braved the 42º weather on Saturday to see the US Men’s National team lose a tight match 1-0 to Slovenia. For context, the field can seat 8,296 people — that means 895 fans were standing.
Ranked
The Alamo City was ranked No. 4 on Clever Real Estate’s “The 10 Worst Coffee Cities” in the US. The article states the low-performing cities have 51% fewer coffee shops and 42% fewer roasteries than average metro areas. We think they’re wrong, just look at our amazing coffee scene.
Legacy
San Antonio artist Sam Sleshi died last week at the age of 19. He was a member of the Digital Pro Lab team and could often be found creating different photography projects. Sleshi’s family is seeking help for funeral + medical expenses by asking the community to donate to its GoFundMe.
Environment
So that’s what the bottom looks like. The City of San Antonio released details about the biennial clean up process of the San Antonio River. Watch the video to learn more about the event — it looks like workers found a couple of folding chairs in the river.
Concert
Planning a trip abroad in May? Local music quartet and outreach group Agarita were selected as the inaugural Artist in Residence for the La Rioja Festival in Spain. Agarita will collaborate with other artists + organizations like Pablo, the Würth Museum, and harpist Cristina Montes.
Arts
The McNay is celebrating its 70th birthday this year with events, programs, and of course, art. The party kicks off on Thursday, Feb. 8, with Founders Day honoring the legacy of its namesake, Marion Koogler McNay. Keep an eye out for its social media channels for mini history lessons about the museum.

The publication lauded our photogenic city with its 250 city-owned locations which offer free permits and turnkey film permitting. What can we say? The camera loves the San Antonio River Walk.
