A local’s guide to the perfect day in San Antonio
Get ready to zip around San Antonio like a pro. | Photo by City of San Antonio
Do you have a friend visiting the Alamo City and want to show them the best of what San Antonio has to offer? Well, that’s what we’re here for. With input from our readers and personal recommendations, we curated a full day itinerary that’ll maximize your time in our city.
Morning:
Start your morning off with a unique local brunch spot, Coffee + Culture. Need a wake up call? Grab a mimosa and chow down on a plate of chilaquiles featuring refried beans, homemade corn tortillas, green tomatillo salsa, crema fresca, queso fresco, onions, and your choice of protein.
Oh, you still want a cup of coffee? No problem, head on over to What’s Brewing Coffee Company — San Antonio’s longest running coffee roaster. Once you get your coffee in hand, play a game of pinball (or two), the machines cost 25 cents.
Are you in a movie mood? Not only is there candy + drinks, but here in San Antonio we have Santikos Theaters. Yes, that is a brag. The local theater chain offers a variety of experiences at its cinemas like bowling, arcades, specialty drinks, quick-service foods, and even laser tag.
Evening:
A pre-dinner stroll along Confluence Park is serene during sunset. Once your candy has settled, it’s time for dinner and our recommendation? Dough Pizzeria. Nestled in Hemisfair sits this local Neapolitan-style pizza place serving up a delicious Margherita Pizza. The Southern Italian atmosphere, drinks, and food are superb.
Grab a slice (or two) from Dough Pizzeria Napoletana.
After your food has settled, we think this would be the perfect opportunity to take a walk through one of San Antonio’s newest parks — Civic Park. Visit the Springs and check out the virtual QR codes on the trees to read about San Antonio locals and their legacies.

Learn about VIA’s proposed Advanced Rapid Transit Silver Line
See the Advanced Rapid Transit project in motion. | Renders provided by VIA Metropolitan Transit
The VIA Transit Authority is hosting three Community Conversation sessions about its proposed Advanced Rapid Transit (ART) Silver Line project for locals to share their perspective and input. First, let’s catch you up to speed on what the project is and how residents will be affected. All aboard.
What is ART?
In 2020, voters approved the redistribution of funding from an existing one-eighth-cent sales tax that invests in workforce training to public transit programs + projects (such as the ART Green Line) beginning in 2026. The Advanced Rapid Transit proposal details a faster, more efficient method of transporting people throughout the East and Westside’s of San Antonio.

Earlier this week we asked if you have participated in San Antonio’s MLK March, here’s what you said: 57.6% of you have, 24.2% haven’t, and 18.2% have yet to participate but want to. Reminder: The MLK March is on Monday, Jan. 15, at 10 a.m.
Yes, you can sit with us. Anyone else going to see “Mean Girls” this weekend before the big freeze? Just a reminder, it’s a musical film, based off of the Broadway play which is based off the original movie. Oh, and make sure to wear pink. So fetch.
