With 10 theaters and 121 cinema screens, it feels like San Antonio can’t get enough of Santikos Theaters. From the arcades, bars, bowling alley’s, food, and even laser tag, this theater chain is a local hit. Now other states are going to be able to experience Santikos.

What is Santikos?

Santikos Entertainment is a locally and privately owned theater chain for over 100 years — started by Louis Santikos in 1911 — and is best known for the movie-going experience. The chain is also known for its charitable foundation and being an active member in the community.

What’s the deal?

Santikos Entertainment will acquire The Grand Theaters and AmStar Cinemas from VSS-Southern Theaters. The chain will jump from 10 locations to 27 spanning across Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina and North Carolina.

This will make Santikos Entertainment the 8th largest cinema chain in the US.
