Small Business Saturday is coming up on Nov. 25. What started as an American Express campaign in 2010 to inspire consumers to shop locally has become an annual holiday that’s celebrated nationally.
We asked you to tell us which local small businesses you love shopping with + any deals you’re excited for, and (as usual) you didn’t disappoint. Plus, we included some of the local deals and shops we love.

Pets
Deck the Paws returns to the San Antonio Botanical Garden on Sunday, Dec. 10 for a day of festive fun for our furry friends. Think: a dog costume contest, grooming, a vendor market, and on-site adoptions.
Sports
The holidays are for sports. With the Spurs taking on San Francisco this Friday and Denver on Sunday, you’ll want to revisit the highlights and check in with the Alamo City’s other home teams. Check out our ultimate guide to sports teams in San Antonio.
Read
Curl up with a good book by a local author this winter. For example, read the Romeo and Juliet-inspired “Westside Love Story” by Priscilla Oliveras or “Big Wonderful Thing,” Stephen Harrigan’s history (and prehistory) of Texas.
Happy Thanksgiving
We’re thankful for you

Did you know we’ve sent a total of over 5,095 newsletters to readers in 26 cities so far this year?
Each of our news products is manned by two local City Editors and supported by the work of branded content writers, account managers, sales representatives, creative and growth marketing team members, editorial and executive leadership, our kickass operations team — and you, our readers and advertisers across the country.
If you’re sitting around the table today sharing what you’re thankful for, we’re doing the same.
It’s Thanksgiving, y’all. Every year, I make mac ‘n’ cheese for my family’s Thanksgiving meal — we usually do lunch so we can watch the Dallas Cowboys game — but this year I was able to convince my mom to let me pick up a frozen Luby’s mac ‘n’ cheese family sized dish from H-E-B.
However, I caved and ended up making a homemade pumpkin pie.
