New recreation area coming to Market Square

Come out to the city’s newest family-friendly recreation area, The Pass.

Need weekend plans for the family? The City of San Antonio is inviting the community out to a few free events at the Historic Market Square this Saturday: Market Square Last Blast Summer Blast and The Pass Dedication Ceremony.

The Last Blast Summer Blast is celebrating the end of summer and the beginning of back-to-school season. Here’s what to know before you go:

  • Runs Saturday, August 12 and Sunday, August 13 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Live entertainment
  • Food and artisan vendors
  • Zumba
  • Kids games and activities

The new recreation area, The Pass, is located at the underpass at IH-35 between Dolorosa and Commerce streets. The family-friendly recreation area includes:

  • A basketball court
  • Ping pong tables
  • Swing chairs + tables
  • Murals

The dedication ceremony will happen during the Last Blast Summer Blast on Saturday, August 12 from noon to 12:30 p.m. at the Historic Market Square.
