VIA rolls out electric buses

The ARC electric buses debuted along four routes.

Check out the VIA Gillig electric bus hitting the San Antonio streets soon.

Take a ride on the electric bus. In an effort for a more clean and environmentally friendly transportation option, VIA Metropolitan Transit rolled out four new ARC electric buses throughout the city.

The shiny new set of wheels features 150 miles of range as well as regenerative braking, and a 12-bay charging station where its buses can fully charge in four hours.

VIA’s also upgraded the vehicles interiors:

  • Ambient and dimmable LED lighting
  • Fresh seat designs for 38 passengers
  • USB type B ports. Sorry, no USB-C here folks.
  • On board security cameras
  • Colored destination sign
  • The addition of a rear-view camera for the driver
