As we near the announcement of our Best Taco Bracket, we are really feeling the competitive spirit. We thought it would be interesting to have two budgets go head-to-head + see how much bang you really get for your buck.
Here’s how you can spend a day in San Antonio on $10 vs. $100.
$10 budget
For the baller on a budget, we recommend picking up a bacon + egg breakfast taco served on a handmade flour tortilla from Laredo Taco Co. for only $1.79.
Next, get those steps in and visit one (or all) five Spanish Colonial Missions and their adjacent trails that connect them. Then, head to the nearest Whatabuger and order the Whataburger Jr. meal for a total of $5.59.
Take a walk around the Japanese Tea Garden while enjoying free admission to monthly events like the upcoming Jazz in the Garden concert on Fri., March 25 at 6:30 p.m. Finish the night at Florio’s Pizza on Broadway with a $2.20 slice.
Total: $9.58
$100 budget
Alright ballers, this one’s for you — Start your day at Revolución with a papas rancheras with cashew crema (plus avocado) breakfast taco. Order the Revolucion Latte with local lavender-infused honey (sub. reg. milk for oat, of course) for a grand total of $11.75.
Next, head to Hopscotch for 20,000 sqft of immersive art. An adult admission ticket will set you back $24. Then, grab a burger at Hopdoddy. We recommend the Llano Poblano + with a boozy shake of your choice for $19.00.
Hey, there’s no shame in the free event game. Join our budget-conscious friends at the Japanese Tea Garden. We would normally recommend a drink at Jingu House, but we’ll have to wait until it reopens post renovations. Finish the night at Pearl with an elegant French dinner at Brasserie Mon Chou Chou. Try the traditionnelle boeuf bourguignon + a wine pairing for ~$44.
Total: $98.75
