San Antonio is home to some great eats + local gems — but now it’s a destination site for those who like to live life on the dangerous side. We’re talking about high-flying, recording-breaking, thrill-seeking adventures.

With two ride openings this past week in the Alamo City, we thought it would be appropriate to round up local spots that will guarantee a rush for any daredevil out there.

SeaWorld San Antonio , 10500 Sea World Dr.

  • SeaWorld has plenty for those seeking a hair-raising experience. However, if you’re looking for something truly extreme, you’ll be happy to know that the world’s tallest + fastest dynamic swing is right in our backyard and finally open. Tidal Surge stands at 135 feet with speeds reaching up to 68 miles per hour — talk about a stomach drop.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas , 17000 W. I-10

  • The world-record-breaking action doesn’t stop there — the newly opened Dare Devil Dive Flying Machines is the tallest + fastest of its kind with loops and dives to mimic the sensation of weightlessness. Bonus: construction continues on Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger — the world’s steepest dive roller coaster featuring a beyond-vertical 95-degree initial drop opening later this year.
