The most colorful park that ever was

San Antonio Street Art
It’s no secret that street art makes San Antonio great. Now we’re getting a first-of-its kind street art park. | Photo by SATXtoday
Stay tuned — San Antonio Arts Commission’s Public Art Committee meets today at 10 a.m., where a top action item is a request by San Antonio Street Art Initiative to install 10 temporary murals at Healy Murphy Park.

It’s all part of a larger plan years in the making: After planning and construction, big changes are afoot for the East Side Park with the help of the San Antonio Street Art Initiative. The new-and-improved street art park is set to include 10 permanent concrete “Dream Walls” which will be painted at a groundbreaking ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 4 — and painted and repainted annually at a block party by live artists at work.

Check out a gorgeous walkthrough of what the big reveal will look like, or stream the meeting to see the committee’s vote + feedback.

Holiday

Sundown tonight marks the beginning of Rosh Hashanah. The celebration runs until sundown on Wednesday, Sept. 24. Celebrate the new year tonight by attending the Rosh Hashana Brisket Dinner with Young & Jewish San Antonio.

Eat

Talk about taking the cake. Koffeteria in Houston was crowned the best bakery in Texas by The Takeout. Luckily, you don’t knead to go that far for delicious baked goods — San Antonio’s bakery scene is pretty sweet, too.

Cause

Host and comedian Nate Bargatze donated $250,000 to the Boys and Girls Club of America during the 2025 Emmys, using length of acceptance speeches to determine the amount donated. Luckily for us, there’s no time limit on giving back to San Antonio’s local chapter. (USA Today)

Today Is

Today is the autumnal equinox, which means fall will officially arrive at 2:19 p.m. The leaves may still be green for now, but when you’re ready to look for changing colors, we recommend hitting a local trail.

Sports

Spurs announce Biyombo’s return and Wembanyama’s voice-acting debut in “Futurama.” Get the latest news, analysis, and insider information for the San Antonio Spurs with Locked On’s daily, team-focused podcasts.

Number

231,000. That’s the estimated number of farms in Texas, according to a new study by Visual Capitalist. Support local growers and eat farm-to-table by shopping at one of San Antonio’s farmers markets this weekend.

Family

$8,912. That’s how much a family of four can expect to spend on average for a seven-night trip to Walt Disney World, including meals, park tickets, and overnight accommodations on property. Vacation not in the cards this year? Budget-friendly family fun awaits with these Alamo City fall activities. (NerdWallet)
San Antonio is the No. 44 best city for coffee lovers in the US, per a new WalletHub report, which used metrics like average cost and cafes per capita. Whether you order something simple or take pleasure in making baristas’ mornings more complicated, we’ve got plenty of stellar coffee shops in the 210.
Athleta’s Friends + Family Sale just dropped — find pieces that take you from early morning workouts to weekend coffee runs with 30% off the whole site (yes, everything).*
