Raise your spirits with homegrown ones

SATXtoday: saint maya tequila

If there’s one thing we’ve got in the Lone Star State, it’s spirit(s).

Did you know tequila is the most popular spirit in Texas? We can’t say we’re surprised — there’s nothing like a frozen margarita to beat the heat — but in case you’ve got different taste, we’ve also rounded up other spirits for your enjoyment.

But let’s start with some homegrown Alamo City tequila.

Surtierra Tequila | San Antonio Stock Show + Rodeo | This brand honors rodeo heritage and is an 100% agave, additive-free tequila.

Mar Azul Tequila | Pyatt Enterprises | You’ll want to try this tasty tequila made by a family-owned business and derived from 100% Blue Weber agave sourced from Jalisco, Mexico.

El Perrito Tequila | Multiple retailers + online | Savor a delightful brand made from old stock agave plants and offering gold + silver options.

Saint Maya Tequila | Total Wine & Spirits + local businesses | Get to know the business with our interview and get a taste of its Blue Weber Agave.

The Wrap

I’m probably late to the party, but Grimaldi’s Pizzeria in La Cantera is the real deal, y’all.

I went for the first time this week and their prosciutto arugula pizza is to die for. I am currently making plans to eat there every day for the rest of my life. If you need me, I will be in my new home, eating nothing but prosciutto pizza.
