One of our all-time favs, Dad’s is conveniently located by the new Overtime Theater location. Go see a show and then pop on over to do karaoke — with nightly drink schedules. Pro tip: Karaoke starts nightly pretty early here, so it’s a great happy hour choice.
Deco Ballroom and Event Center | 1906 Fredericksburg Rd. | Fridays and Saturdays | 10 p.m. This summer only, visit the Deco Ballroom over by the old Woodlawn district and participate in a karaoke competition in a gorgeous ballroom-style space with a cash reward.

A new Lending Tree report has ranked San Antonio No. 11 among “America’s Biggest Boomtowns,” citing its rapid economic growth and strong job opportunities. The study noted that between 2021 and 2023, San Antonians have seen a 12.6% increase in median earnings. (MySA)

Movie theater chain Santikos is eyeing an expansion to the city’s Far Westside near Potranco Road and State Highway 211, according to online records. A construction timeline isn’t determined yet, but the new multiscreen cinema with gaming opportunities and bar will serve the Stevens Ranch area. (MySA)

A new Mr. Crabby’s Seafood Kitchen site is poised to open in North San Antonio in mid-October. Guests can enjoy Cajun-style seafood and a full liquor bar with specialty cocktails at the new spot, conveniently located at 1827 North Loop 1604. (Community Impact)
Development
Star treatment awaits. Omni Hotels is launching a major renovation of the Mokara Hotel + Spa in San Antonio. New free-standing bathtubs and leather furnishings will bolster the new vibes in a makeover the company has described as a “comprehensive reimagination” of the spa, guest rooms and suites. Travel
A new premium air shuttle service will soon offer semi-private flights from Fredericksburg to Dallas (and back). Ladybird Jet, a charter broker, will offer flights every Thursday and Sunday from FAA-certified Part 135 air carriers, with a hard launch Thursday, Aug. 28. (San Antonio Culture Map)
Plan Ahead
Insert air guitar solo here. After a seven-year hiatus, San Antonio’s legendary Guitar Wars competition is headed back to Legacy Park. The Journey West event will see 25 guitarists (five bass, 10 acoustic, 10 electric) competing for top prizes — and will be held Oct. 23.
