Big zoo fans over here. Here we are looking for lemurs that were hiding from the sun.

We love the San Antonio Zoo. There’s never a dull moment visiting the animals and learning about conservancy. And there’s so such much to do in August.

Thursday, Aug. 7 is the next Local Day, where Bexar County residents can score $8 admission.

Grab tickets for Roars and Snores on Friday, Aug. 8, an overnight experience for ages 5 years and up, designed so you can spend time with zoo experts and enjoy climate-controlled camping and a flashlight tour of the zoo after dark.

Plus, don’t miss Beastly Breakfasts on Sunday, Aug. 10, featuring a breakfast buffet as you overlook gorgeous savanna views — and feed the giraffes.

🚗 Why pre-approval is your car-buying best friend

Ready to go car-shopping? Connect with the United Texas Credit Union team to get pre-approved. | Photo courtesy of United Texas Credit Union
Shopping for a car can often feel overwhelming, but there’s a secret weapon savvy buyers use to ease the process: pre-approval.

Securing pre-approval before visiting the dealership not only puts you in a stronger negotiating position but also shields you from those tempting yet unnecessary add-ons. Another invaluable benefit? Staying firmly within your budget to avoid post-purchase regret.

Pre-approval isn’t just about the numbers; it’s about confidence. Knowing your financing limits provides a clearer view of what you can afford, allowing you to focus on getting the best vehicle for your needs. Additionally, it gives you a better sense of your buying power, potentially unlocking savings you hadn’t anticipated.

If you’re preparing to head out to the dealerships, make pre-approval your first step to smoother, more empowered car shopping.

The Wrap

I love living in the original birth state of the Alamo Drafthouse.

Though founded in Austin, not San Antonio (a common misperception), the chain stole my heart when I first moved to the Alamo City in 2017. You can’t beat its chill vibes, its spacious seats, and its yummy eats.

With so many fantastic flicks out at once, I’m not sure where to start, but I know I’m long overdue for a night at the movies. So grab some friends or family — maybe you are, too.
