Keep cool with these local recommendations for ice cream shops.

We asked our readers for their favorite ice cream shops in San Antonio. Here’s the scoop.

Amy’s Ice Creams, 255 E. Basse Rd.
Maria R. loves this Texas staple for its “unique flavors and fun vibes.”

Bee Nice Ice Cream, 8003 Broadway
Most readers mentioned that all of the ice cream is homemade. Sue W. has a recommendation: “Purple Passion is their specialty. [It’s] a delicious ice cream made from purple sweet potatoes.”

Lick Honest Ice Creams, various locations
Beloved by locals for its unique and unusual flavors, this spot’s seasonal offerings are especially a hit.

Arctic Ape, 5221 Walzem Rd.
This fro-yo option also offers gelato, Italian ice, and milkshakes. Jan R. said that there are “board games galore while you’re enjoying your frozen treat.”

Freshest Ice Cream, 8053 Callaghan Rd.
If you’re vegan or lactose-free, this ice cream parlor is for you. Stacey S. thinks a combination of the flavors, options, atmosphere, and owners is what makes Freshest extra special.

Melvin’s, 226 W. Bitters Rd. #124
While Marisa K. appreciates the taste of this ice cream, we can’t help but love that you can also get your morning latte and a sweet potato donut pairing in the same space.

Confetti and Cream, 2420 Bulverde Rd. Ste. 250
Meagan F. called this shop “super cute,” and we’d have to agree that the pretty in pink interior alone is worth the quick drive to Bulverde. The family-owned parlor curates its flavors each week with another small business wholesaler in Fredericksburg.
