Event Spotlight

Lights, camera, action

We’re rolling back the curtain on CineFestival San Antonio’s 46th year, happening at the Carver Community Cultural Center from July 9 to 13. Before you browse the program lineup, put the spotlight on these three need-to-knows.
  • The festival leads with two documentaries focusing on Tejano music and culture: “Selena y Los Dinos” and “Take It Away.”
  • Free screenings will take place at the Little Carver Civic Center, alongside free programs for Senior Cinema and Family Day at Santikos Mayan Palace.
  • Vistas de San Antonio is a showcase of films made in San Antonio, including the feature film, “My Rocking Chair.”
The screening schedule and tickets will be available on Friday, June 27.

Foodies, the table’s set for dinner. Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse debuted its second location on the Northwest Side off Loop 1604. In Northeast San Antonio, new concept Honey’s Chicken Joint entered the scene. It’s located in a former Church’s Chicken at Rittiman and Wurzbach roads. It’s the “Little Things,” like Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives making a stop at Stable Hall this fall. Tickets for the Friday, Oct. 3 show are on sale now and begin at $55.

Voter registration
Make sure you’re eligible and registered to vote, find your polling location, and preview upcoming elections here.

Driver’s licenses and vehicle registration
New residents needing a Texas driver’s license are required to provide proof of legal status, a Social Security document, and two documents confirming their residential address.

To register a car in Texas, bring proof of state car insurance, proof of identity (in the form of a driver’s license, passport, or ID card), and a Vehicle Identification Number and Odometer Verification form to any Bexar County tax office.

Appointments can be made online to obtain a state driver’s license. Vehicle registration is conducted on a walk-in basis.
