If you’re vegan or lactose-free, this ice cream parlor is for you. Stacey S. thinks a combination of the flavors, options, atmosphere, and owners is what makes Freshest extra special.

The Broadway East project gained approval from the Historic and Design Review Commission. The development would rise in Government Hill across from Pearl and also involve the relocation of a historic structure to 1606 N. Alamo St. It calls for six buildings with retail, office, and cultural space. (San Antonio Business Journal)
Eat
San Antonio-based Southern Roots Vegan Bakery was recognized in Good Housekeeping’s 2025 Best Snack Awards for its vanilla cake donuts. The publication said the sweet treats are “surprisingly vegan but don’t compromise on taste or texture.”
Concert
Don’t shake your head, shake your hips instead. Shakira already rescheduled her show at the Alamodome for Saturday, July 5. Previously purchased tickets for the original concert on Friday, June 13 will be honored on the new date. (San Antonio Express-News)

“O’ Powa O’ Meng: The Art and Legacy of Jody Folwell” debuts at the McNay Art Museum on Thursday, July 31. The exhibition highlighting Folwell’s career showcases ~25 pottery works spanning five decades. The museum will also host artist-led programs that complement the display before its close in January 2026.
