Civic

The City of San Antonio, Bexar County, and the Spurs signed a Memorandum of Understanding last Friday about their desire to establish a Downtown Sports and Entertainment District. It’s the first step moving the Spurs to Hemisfair and re-imagining the Frost Bank Center area.

Legendary Spurs radio commentator Bill Schoening will retire at the end of the 2024-25 season. His last broadcast is on Sunday, April 13. Thank you, Bill.

NISD’s W.Z. “Doc” Burke Elementary School has been crowned the champion of the NCAA’s Read to the Final Four Competition. The school’s 89 third-graders read over 1,827,419 minutes (aka almost 3.5 years), securing the school a $5,000 check towards campus improvements. Congrats y’all.
