Holidays on Houston Fun Run | 6:30 p.m. | Travis Park | $30+ | Run through a festive course spotlighting San Antonio’s holiday lights.

A frosty adventure awaits you at the Schertz Family YMCA Polar Bear 5K & Plunge happening on Saturday, Jan. 11. Registration is now open ($25 for the plunge only or $35 for the 5K and plunge).
After the race, dive into chilly waters, then warm up with hot cocoa, cozy fire pits, and an award ceremony.
Whether you’re racing, plunging, or just cheering, it’s an exhilarating way to start the new year.
Today, the City of San Antonio, the San Antonio Housing Trust, and Cornerstone Housing Group are breaking ground on a new affordable older adult housing facility. Legacy Senior Residences is located on the Southeast side and will have 180 units. A construction completion date has not been released.

Birkenstock General Store and Leather Goods Co. is bringing its sophomore location to Boerne along Hill Country Mile at 470 South Main St., Ste. 101. The luxury shoe store is expected to open later this month. (MySA)

Pearl-area restaurant Go Fish has closed after less than a year in operation. The eatery thanked its patrons as well as teasing its next concept — Beau’s Tiny Diner at the corner of Beauregard and South Alamo Street.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas announced that the “Goliath” roller coaster is getting a re-theme taking place over the next couple of months. The ride’s new name is “Chupacabra” and updates are coming to its entrance, queue, track color, and story to tie into the park’s Los Festivales entrance.

Laika Cheesecakes and Espresso has opened holiday pre-orders for its Christmas Party Packs. Customers have the option to choose 24, 48, 72, and 96 jars of cheesecake. The variety pack includes Space Jam, Cookies And Cream, Black Forest, and Heart of Gold.
