Add a little ‘Feliz’ to your life by shopping at Feliz Modern’s Small Business Saturday Market on Nov. 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. | Photo by SATXtoday Team
Small Business Saturday, an initiative dedicated to celebrating and supporting small and locally-owned businesses + the impact they have in our communities, is on Saturday, Nov. 30.
The day falls between two of the biggest shopping days of the year — Black Friday and Cyber Monday — and has become an annual shopping tradition for many since its establishment by American Express in 2010.
If you’re looking to join in on the festivities this year, check out our list of some of Newsletter Editor Nicholas’ favorite small businesses in town — and some extra suggestions from our followers.
Belle & Union | This is your one stop shop for anything stationery related and it even curates its own showcase of local small businesses. Think: bath salts, vintage finds, and kitchen decor.

A new sports district in San Antonio has been shared with the class, what are your thoughts? | Photo by City of San Antonio
Last week, City Manager Erik Walsh briefed the City of San Antonio City Council on proposed plans to revitalize downtown with massive upgrades + additions.
Our readers have mixed feelings about the announcement and want to weigh in on the conversation.
33% believe San Antonio’s future is bright
“It will be a wonderful addition to downtown as long as a parking garage is part of the plans.”
29% are cautiously optimistic about the announcement
“Downtown is going to be crazy. Businesses will suffer with the construction.”
23% need more information to determine their feelings
“Use the billions of $$$ to revitalize/upgrade the area around the Frost Bank Center with new tourist and entertainment facilities, hotels, restaurants, etc. Leave downtown San Antonio alone, it’s already too crowded, congested, and has horrible parking.”
15% don’t think it will happen
“I think it’s a lot of money for the Spurs when they have already had two places built with tax payers money.”
“This is going to create massive traffic and parking issues.”
Reader Darla P. reached out with this photo of a Spurs mural and a question: “Who is the second to right?” After consulting with my sports expert (and boss) we think it’s Manu Ginóbili. Do you agree? Let me know.
