Centro San Antonio is partnering with the 80/20 Foundation to celebrate National Park(ing) Day on Friday, Sept. 20 from noon to 4 p.m. Park(ing) Day began in 2005 when a San Francisco-based art studio set up a park for two hours in a metered space.
Since then, this one-day-only international event encourages local businesses to convert city streets + parking spaces into vibrant green places for art, play, and community engagement in 162 cities and 35 countries.
Participants and theme
This year’s theme is Parking Reform Activism, which aims to highlight the need for street reclamation in a post-pandemic world. The event will happen along Houston Street (from Alamo to Flores) and North Main (from Houston to Travis) in downtown.
I’m still dreaming about the Lobster Tacos and Pork Belly Bao Buns from High Praise. I had the pleasure of doing some research on the rooftop bar and restaurant, and hope to return soon to learn more about the InterContinental San Antonio Riverwalk and its other offerings.
