Each year, monarch butterflies migrate from Canada to Mexico and pass through Texas. These butterflies are looking for warmer climate to vacation until March — when they’ll return to Texas to lay eggs.
San Antonio has celebrated our pretty pollinator pals with nine editions of this annual fest. Here are the details so you can plan accordingly:
Happening on Saturday, Oct. 5 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Taking place at the Pecan Grove, Cypress Pavilion, and Koehler Pavilion in Brackenridge Park
Over 30 educational experiences, including how to tag monarch butterflies
Admission is free
Fun fact: San Antonio became the nation’s first Monarch Butterfly Champion City in 2015. The initiative is to increase habitat access and educate the community on the importance of protecting local pollinators.
