It’s Drink Up Week, so let’s set the scene: You just got off of work and are looking for a pick-me-up. It’s too late for coffee but you’re not in the mood for tea nor anything alcoholic — what do you do? If you’re looking for unique beverage experience then we’ve got something just for you.

What is Sodamigo?

Founded in 2022, Sodamigo is a Texas-themed soda shop where fizzy concoctions reign supreme and customization options are endless. Using drink bases like Pepsi or Big Red, this spot takes your favorite flavors and puts a Lone Star twist on them.

City Editor Nicholas’ drink of choice is the Chupacabra which features Big Red, blue raspberry, and coconut syrups. Pro tip:Keep an eye on Instagram for its Drinks of the Month.

Why soda?

Owner Roman Huerta says that a soda shop in San Antonio “just makes sense.”

The bottom line? Soda is fun. Seeing an increased interest in non-alcoholic drink options, Roman saw an opportunity to carve Sodamigo as a contender in the alternative drink space.

With the 2024-2025 academic year right around the corner, teachers are stocking their classrooms with supplies to make sure students have the tools they need for success. Oftentimes, teachers use their personal finances to make it happen.

We want to help local teachers by clearing their school supply wishlists. If you, or a teacher you know, has a wishlist, let us know by Friday, Aug. 2 for a chance to be featured in an upcoming newsletter.

If you’re a teacher without a wishlist but need help with school supplies, check out these local resources:
