SAWS is implementing Stage 3 water restrictions. Irrigation use hours will remain the same but a high-use surcharge will apply to residential customers. Those using 20,000+ gallons will pay a surcharge of $10.37 per thousand gallons on the next billing cycle.

Civic
The City approved four new historical markers in the Denver Heights neighborhood that highlight San Antonio’s Black history. The locations are: 226 N. Hackberry, 506 Montana, 202 Connelly, and 935 Iowa. A total of eight markers will be up by the end of the year. (KSAT 12)
Number
$538 million. That’s how much was approved for SAISD’s budget for the 2024-2025 school year. The trustees approved ~$54 million more than its expected revenue. Additional funds from another source will cover the deficit, according Superintendent Jaime Aquino. (TPR)
Coming Soon
Taco Palenque will spend $5 million on a central kitchen. Located at Highway 151 near Ingram Road, the facility will prep large quantities of food to help support its area restaurants. Construction begins Aug. 1 with a completion date of Aug. 21, 2025. (MySA)
Travel
Condor Airlines will decrease the amount of international flights between San Antonio and Frankfurt, Germany next summer. The route will go from three to two flights per week. During its inaugural flight, the plane had 110 empty seats and returned about half empty. Passenger data has not been released. (SA Current)
Announced
The City of San Antonio and Amman, Jordan signed a Friendship City agreement. Made official this week, this honors the Arab influence on Spanish history in the 210 and sets the groundwork a partnership between the two cities.

The Commission on Presidential Debates canceled all of its 2024 events. This includes the one planned at Texas State University on Sept. 16 in San Marcos. The university had planned to spend ~$5 million, but will have first pick for future debates.

TxDOT is giving San Antonians an early Christmas (in July) gift. Beginning this weekend through Labor Day, TxDOT released a schedule of various closures for its 1604 expansion project.
Major closures
Drivers will want to avoid the area due to one highway and the ramps being closed in both directions.

Minor closures
