We love pastries at SATXtoday. From tortillas to pan dulce, the Alamo City knows how to make some delicious dishes. If you’re traveling through the UTSA area on the city’s northside, we recommend stopping at 85ºC Bakery Cafe. This spot will leave you with a new kind of sweet bread craving.

🍞 Delectable details

Located at 12710 I-10 Frontage Rd., Suite 150, 85ºC Bakery Cafe is a southeast Asian baked goods chain that specializes in fresh, daily bread offerings such as cakes, pastries, and coffee. Fun fact: The reason for the name “85ºC” is a reference to the perfect temperature needed to pull an espresso shot.

Currently in its soft opening phase, the new cafe is a first for San Antonio and offers premium bread options at affordable prices. It’s hours are 10 a.m. until sellout daily through Thursday, June 27.

A grand opening celebration is planned for Friday, June 28 + Saturday, June 29, 9 a.m.-9 p.m., and Sunday, June 30, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Arrive early Friday to be one of the first 25 customers to receive 15 free pieces of bread. The first 50 customers on Saturday + Sunday will receive a free t-shirt.

Coming Soon

Muck and Fuss, a New Braunfels craft beer + burger joint, is coming to San Antonio. The $4.5 million project will include a new 8,812-sqft location on the city’s northside at 2422 N. Loop 1604 W. Construction begins in August with an estimated completion in December, 2025.

CPS Energy is hosting a free drive-thru event today for its Casa Verde program. Stop by Mt. Gilead Church (1319 E. Crockett St.) from 9 to 11 a.m. Attendees will receive a weatherization kit and learn about the qualifications needed for free energy-saving home upgrades.

Announced

Hot Joy is moving to the intersection of Broadway and Jones. Announced in an Instagram post, the restaurant thanked its customers and offered stories of its time in Southtown. Starting on Tuesday, June 18, it will offer old school dishes like Pork Belly Tacos, and Tofu Steam Buns while it moves.

The San Antonio Parks Foundation is throwing a party at the Japanese Tea Garden. Swing by on Thursday, June 20, from 7-9 p.m. for Yacht Rock at the Garden featuring local DJs, food + drink options, and extended evening hours. The event is free and an RSVP is encouraged.

Local muralist Shek Vega will appear in a new art exhibition in Albuquerque, NM. If you find yourself in the 505, visit National Hispanic Cultural Center for its “Convergence X Crossroads: Street Art from the Southwest” installation. It’s on view from Monday, July 1 through Feb. 1, 2025.
