Bidi Bidi Bom Bom — in case you didn’t know, Selena Day is tomorrow (Tuesday, April 16), and we can’t wait to celebrate the “Queen of Tejano Music.”
It’s no secret that San Antonio’s love for Selena is unrivaled — if Como La Flor doesn’t play at least once at a party, is it even a San Antonio party?
We all know the singer’s connection to our city is strong (even once having ran a boutique in town). However, only superfans have been to all these iconic spots that celebrate her legacy around town.
🗺️ Selena San Antonio map
The Selena Bridge, San Antonio River Walk Located between N. Saint Mary’s St. and Navarro St., this bridge served as the setting for the romantic scene in “Selena” the movie (starring J.Lo). This is definitely a bit of a tourist trap — but can you blame us? The spot offers some truly Instagram-worthy views.
Selena’s Hollywood Star, Hard Rock Café You’ve heard of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but what about the River-Walk of Fame? No? Okay, it doesn’t actually exist (sorry), but there is a star commemorating the christening of the restaurant.

You may remember our ‘puro’ SATX grammar lesson where we explained how we use language to express identity + pride in the Alamo City.
Today, we’re sharing words every San Antonian just knows (or should know if you want to take full advantage of what our beautiful city has to offer).
¡Salud!
This goes without saying, but we love celebrating special occasions the best way we know how — usually with a margarita in hand. Salud translates to “cheers,” but that doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t take part in the fun without alcohol.
Los números del 1 al 10
Better than walking up to your local taquero and holding up your fingers, we recommend brushing up on your español to order the exact number of tacos you want. Why? You might end up ordering four orders of six tacos by accident at Taquitos West Ave. — speaking from personal experience.
It was amazing getting to meet some of y’all at our first Fiesta medal giveaway. Didn’t have an opportunity to grab one? Don’t sweat it. There’s a second chance tomorrow at Early Bird Coffee. We hope to see you there. Also, try the Horchata Cold Brew — it’s perfection.
