Newbie and veteran audiophiles unite — it’s vinyl-ly Record Store Day on Saturday, April 20.
Whether you’re a Gorillaz fan eyeing the “Cracker Island (Deluxe Vinyl Edition)” or a pop rock enthusiast eager for The 1975’s "...Live at Gorilla” pressing, this day has something for everyone.
🎵 What is Record Store Day?
Record Store Day occurs twice a year: once in the spring and again on Black Friday. On these days, musicians release limited copies of specific albums on vinyl. While some prints may get re-released in the future, once they’re gone, they’re gone. Record collecting has surged in popularity in recent years, even outselling CD’s for the first time since 1987.
🎧 Participating locations
Here are some record stores in the Alamo City participating in Record Store Day:
Vinyl collectors are among the most dedicated. Here are four tips to survive Record Store Day:
Have an idea of what you want before going. The special releases list is out for you to review beforehand.
Long lines are inevitable — we’ve seen people start lining up in the wee hours of the morning — so we also recommend grabbing your favorite breakfast + coffee and dressing appropriately for the weather.
Remember that just because it’s on the Record Store Day list does not guarantee a store will carry it. Call ahead and your friendly clerk can give you an idea of what items will be available.

Bring your competitive spirit for a game of Lotería inside San Antonio’s newest concert hall. | Photo courtesy of Stable Hall
We love free at SATXtoday, and what better way to enjoy our vibrant city than with free games of Lotería (with prizes of course) and musical performances? The new Sabor Sessions is created in partnership with the San Antonio UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy program and food photographer Tracey Maurer.
It’s a series honoring the Alamo City’s rich culinary culture, heritage, and music through bilingual Lotería games called ¡Qué Sabor! San Antonio. Doors at the Stable Hall inside the Historic Pearl open at 11 a.m., with games running from 12 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays through May.
The first floor will be transformed into a game lounge with seating on a first-come first-served basis. We saved the best for last. Prizes include Stable Hall concert tickets, lotería games, and more from community partners.
Ready to yell “Lotería?” Get your tabla and markers ready, but make sure to RSVP to secure a seat.
Happy Pi Day folks. If you’re in the mood for something savory for dinner (like I am) then grab a pizza pie to celebrate. Don’t know where to go? We got you covered.
