  • The City of San Antonio announced yesterday that the San Antonio International Airport will provide flights to Europe for the first time ever. Condor Airlines will provide seasonal, non-stop flights to the Frankfurt Airport beginning May 17, 2024, which is expected to bring an estimated $34 million annually. Tickets are on sale now.
Development
  • Zachry Hospitality has received a nearly $48 million clean energy loan from the Texas Property Assessed Clean Energy program for its 18-story, 200-room Hemisfair hotel project. The funds will go towards plumbing and water infrastructure, heating and air conditioning efficiency, and other improvements. A tentative construction date is slated for Wednesday, Nov. 15.   • Two local beer companies, VIVA Beer and Alamo Beer Company, announced they are merging via Instagram. The businesses hope this decision will strengthen their shared commitment to crafting beer for the 210 community and beyond.

The Red Cross announced it is experiencing a national blood crisis with levels falling by 25% since August. The dangerously low blood supply levels have forced some hospitals to defer patients from major surgery and have put many in life-threatening situations.

In 2024, I hope to travel more. I’m trying to convince my best friends to take a trip next summer to Europe. Now that we will have flights to Germany three times a week, I think that’s the push they need to get on board this idea.

I’ve been dying to go back to Italy, and this might finally be my chance.
