What is the Headin’ Home Program?
This programs sends at-risk dogs + puppies to rescue partners in other parts of the US — even to other countries — where space is available. These are usually places like the Pacific Northwest, the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, Wisconsin and even Canada.
By partnering with other animal rescue organizations, it ensures these dogs find loving families and get a fresh start. Recently the organization added three new vehicles to its fleet:
Sprinter van (holds 35-40 crates)
Donated bus (holds 90 crates)
Smaller van (holds 25 crates)
The organization’s Headin’ Home Program transports dogs to rescue partners in other states where space is available.

San Antonio City Council votes on homestead exemption
The City Council doubled the City’s homestead exemptions that will bring property tax relief to homeowners. | Photo by Kelly Sikkema on Unsplash
The City Council unanimously voted to double the City’s homestead exemption to 20% — the state maximum. Let’s break it down.
A homestead exemption allows homes to be taxed at 20% less than what they’re appraised for (so a $100,000 home would be taxed like a $80,000 home).
To claim a homestead exemption, the property has to be your primary residence and the owner must have an ownership stake.
Disabled and senior homeowners benefit from a tax freeze and reduction of the property tax rate.
TheBexar County Appraisal District will automatically update existing homestead exemptions.
The City will provide additional property tax relief through $85K in exemptions.
Need help understanding your property taxes? The city is offering free property tax help sessions. During the sessions, the San Antonio Legal Services Association will help explain:
Different tax exemptions available to homeowners.
Guide homeowners through the exemption forms to help lower their property tax bill.
For more info and to verify your exemptions visit the Bexar County Appraisal District website or call them at 210-224-2432.

Now that the humidity has gone away, it’s a little more bearable outside. I can now last 10 minutes in the 104 degree heat instead of five. A win is a win, am I right? However, I’m still burning my hands on my stirring wheel every time I get in the car.
My dog Benny is still wearing his shoes when we go outside. He’s definitely not a fan but I have to protect his little toe beans (that’s what I call his paws). As a reward, I give him a cold doggy ice cream treat for being a good boy.
