Nearly a hundred animals come through shelters door every single day in San Antonio, equating to thousands a month. It’s a critical point for the city’s animals, and San Antonio Pets Alive! needs your help providing life-saving solutions through its expanded Headin’ Home transport program.
Who is San Antonio Pets Alive?
Since 2011, San Antonio Pets Alive’s mission is determined to provide programs and services in order to eliminate the need for euthanasia, and has helped save the lives of over 65,000 animals. This 501(c)3 non-profit organization is determined to rescue and provide safe options for the growing number of homeless pets in our city.
What is the Headin’ Home Program?
This programs sends at-risk dogs + puppies to rescue partners in other parts of the US — even to other countries — where space is available. These are usually places like the Pacific Northwest, the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, Wisconsin and even Canada.
By partnering with other animal rescue organizations, it ensures these dogs find loving families and get a fresh start. Recently the organization added three new vehicles to its fleet:
- Sprinter van (holds 35-40 crates)
- Donated bus (holds 90 crates)
- Smaller van (holds 25 crates)
