Real Estate
  • Got $80 million laying around? A 3,630-acre property hit the market in the Helotes and Bandera Hill Country area for $79.9 million, and yes that is the price tag. Real estate group Icon Global has an interactive map + videos of the ranch for your causal browsing pleasure.
Development
  • Austin-based developer MNO Partners is proposing a mixed-use residential development in the Helotes area. The plans potentially include a greenway trail system, dog park, pickleball court, bar, and retail area. Residents can attend the Planning & Zoning Commission meeting on Tuesday, July 11 at 7 p.m. at Helotes City Hall.
Environment
  • As we approach July, this is your friendly reminder of the city’s Household Hazardous Waste drop off event. If you have any hazardous materials like batteries, oil, or paint, you’ll be able to dispose of it for free on Friday, July 7, and Saturday, July 8 at the Bitters Bulky Waste Collection Center.
Art
  • The Contemporary at Blue Star announced three new exhibitions. On Friday, July 7, starting at 6 p.m., guests can see artwork from Brittany Ham, Adam Schreiber, and Michael Velliquette. The exhibits will showcase self-portraiture, urban landscapes, intricate paper sculptures. Check them out through Sunday, September 3.

  • The San Antonio city-wide Coffee Crawl is coming Saturday. The crawl features over 15 local coffee spots from trailers to shops. Tickets are $8 and includes free samples at participating locations, a digital Coffee Crawl Card, and a map.
Number
  • 3,999,944. That’s how much the Texas population grew between 2010 and 2020. Hispanics are now the majority of the population with 40.2%, while White is the minority with 39.8%. This marks the first time in the state’s history to have a minority majority. San Antonio maintains a majority Hispanic population with 65.7%.

VIA announces Park and Airport service

Do you have summer travel plans? VIA Metropolitan Transit takes the stress out of driving to the airport with its new Park and Airport service. Dad’s who wake their family up six hours before their flight, this is for you.

The service allows travelers to park their vehicle overnight for free at its Stone Oak station at the intersection of U.S. 281 and Stone Oak Parkway on the third floor. Express service fare is on route seven — to get to San Antonio International Airport (SAT) — and costs $2.60 each way.

Know before you go:
  • Pay using VIA goMobile+ app or cash
  • Bus service runs every 30 minutes
  • Non-stop express service takes 15-20 minutes to get to SAT
  • Bus service runs Monday through Friday, 5:30 a.m.-7 p.m.
  • There are four electric charging stations on site
