From simple gestures to volunteering your time, here are seven random acts of kindness you can perform to make a neighbor’s day or brighten up the community.

Bring treats to work

Next time you’re on the way to work, grab your coworkers some coffee or pastries. Pro tip: The sweet treats from The Art of Donut and brews from Gravves Coffee are a perfect pairing.

Pay for a student’s lunch

School is out but many students still need snacks + lunches. San Antonio ISD and the City of San Antonio are covering those costs throughout the summer. See all the available lunch programs and how you can help.

Show local businesses some love

It’s no secret that we love our local businesses. Next time you stop by your go-to spots, tip generously or write a positive review.

Plant native species

Add some green to your community by planting native species. See which native plants thrive in the Alamo City.

How to keep your car costs down in San Antonio

Did you know? According to AAA, car owners pour an average of $10,728 per year into their vehicles — a figure that includes fuel, repairs, and insurance.

Keep your cruises down San Antonio streets cost efficient with these tips:
  1. Shopping for a new car? Use AAA’s Driving Cost Calculator to see how much vehicle ownership will cost over the next five years.
  2. Check tire pressure regularly, since it can impact fuel economy and safety. Find free air pumps around town.
  3. Drive your car once a week for thirty minutes to keep your battery strong. Pro tip: Buy a personal jump starter and never ask a neighbor for a jump again.
  4. Consider investing in a dash cam, which can save you money in the long run by recording collision evidence and break-ins. The Ring Car Cam sends you real-time motion alerts, and the REDTIGER Dual Dash Cam records crisp 4K video.
