The heat in south Texas is straight up disrespectful, especially during the summer. If you live in San Antonio, you get a lovely mix of scorching heat and thick humidity from May through September.
We rounded up four different water activities in and around the the Alamo City — even the free options — to beat the heat this summer.
City pools
The easiest way to cool off is by visiting one of the many city pools. Even sweeter is that access to the pools is free. The Aquatics Division of the San Antonio Park & Recreation manages 25 city pools. This division also offers swimming lessons for all ages. Tomorrow, 11 pre-season pools open while the remaining 14 pools open Saturday, June 17. The city pools are open Saturdays + Sundays from 1-7 p.m.
San Antonio Parks and Recreations offers swim lessons for youth and adults.

The inaugural season of the XFL league was a whirlwind for San Antonians. Did y’all catch the Rock at the Alamodome this season? Unfortunately, the San Antonio Brahmas did not make it to the championship game, however, there are plenty of reasons to celebrate in the off season.
This week, several San Antonio Brahmas players signed contracts with different NFL teams for the 2023-2024 season. These players will not return to the Brahmas next season but you can catch them this fall in the big leagues. Here are four players who signed NFL contracts:
Tight-end, Alize Mack, signed with the Tennessee Titans
Jacques Patrick, former Brahmas running-back, signed his contract with the Denver Broncos
Corner-back, Luq Barcoo, will play with the Pittsburgh Steelers this coming NFL season
Parker Romo, kicker, signed with the Detroit Lions
Remember when we were complaining about the icy weather in February? I don’t know about y’all but I miss it already. This heat is so obnoxious it makes me want to cry.
I am not looking forward to burning my hands on the steering wheel when getting into my car. Catch me being a passenger princess all summer long.
