Minor League Baseball fans know that baseball season means it’s time for Copa de la Diversión (or “Fun Cup”) — a season-long event series designed to “connect teams with their local US Hispanic communities.”

For special games and events, the Missions transform into Las Flying Chanclas — so named to honor the “symbol of strength, discipline, and love” embodied in an abuelita’s chancla.
Las Flying Chanclas logo for Copa de la Diversion features a flying sandal.

The logo even features a flying chanclas.

Guess who’s back? Besides this obnoxious San Antonio humidity, I’m back too.

I took a quick trip to Dallas to see my favorite podcast, Chicks in the Office. Then came back to San Antonio to celebrate my dad’s birthday. His age is a secret I will never tell, if I want to stay in his will.

I came back to town to the biggest surprise. Box St. All Day, one of the eateries in our brunch guide, is opening up a second location in La Cantera at the end of the year.
