Come February, a magical new experience will make its way to San Antonio. Walt Disney Animation Studios will collaborate with Lighthouse Immersive Studios, the producers of Immersive Van Gogh, to debut a new concept at Lighthouse ArtSpace venues: Disney Animation: Immersive Experience.

The immersive installation will feature both the music and imagery from Disney Animation’s canon of films, including modern favorites like “Encanto,” “Zootopia,” and “Frozen,” to all-time classics like “The Lion King,” “Peter Pan,” and “Pinocchio.”

J. Miles Dale — the Oscar-winning producer for “The Shape Of Water” (Best Picture, 2018) — is leading the production of the show.

“With such a wealth of material and a treasure trove of memorable characters, it will be a thrill to bring the work of all the great Disney animators and performers to life in a 360-degree immersive environment,” shared Dale.

Mexico City-based Cocolab is working with Dale and the Creative Legacy team at Walt Disney Animation Studios to develop the program for Lighthouse Immersive Studios.

Visitors can also expect never-before-seen interactive lobby elements before or after entering the gallery developed by Lighthouse Immersive’s Global Creative Director David Korins, a Tony Award-nominee whose credits include shows like “Hamilton” and “Grease Live.”

The show will debut in San Antonio on Feb. 28, 2023 and will run through the end of May. Tickets are now on sale with pricing beginning at $39.99.

We’ve got a pressing debate that needs your help resolving. | Graphic by SATXtoday team
We’re coming up on our one-year anniversary (Tues., Oct. 25), but we’ve still got an unresolved debate that needs your help answering: How do you pronounce SATXtoday?

We’ve heard it all. Say-tex” today, “S-A-T-X” today, and most recently “sat-ex” today.

Here are some internal opinions on the matter, in case you were curious.
  • City Editors Iván and Amy both agree that it should be pronounced S-A-T-X.
  • Multi-City Editor Dayten is a staunch say-tex supporter, stating “if it looks remotely pronounceable, you know I’m gonna give it a try.”
  • Sales Executive Carolyn is willing to give either a chance, but knows deep down it should be pronounced S-A-T-X.
  • Intern Saryvette supports using each letter to pronounce S-A-T-X today.
  • Managing Editor Josh once chose to remain neutral by using “San Antonio,” but recently announced his position as a say-tex supporter.
As you can imagine, things have gotten heated over here at SATXtoday. Let us know who you agree with.

Today’s issue was written by Iván.

Editor’s pick: While the great SATX pronunciation debate is all in good fun, I recognize that this may a bit of a larger problem for our Spanish speakers. As of now, mi familia hispanohablante has settle for calling it “Iván’s trabajo.”
