The Briscoe Western Art Museum is hosting the only local screening of the new documentary, “Deep in the Heart of Texas,” with a member of the film’s production team.

The documentary celebrates the vast landscape of Texas through its wildlife, spanning from the highest peaks in West Texas to the waters of the Gulf of Mexico — and is narrated by native Texas actor Matthew McConaughey. This family-friendly film features animals including the blind catfish, mountain lions, Mexican freetail bats, and even the bison herd of Caprock Canyons State Park.

Tickets to the Nov. 10 screening cost $14. Of course popcorn, candy, and drinks will be available for purchase — museum members receive free admission and movie snacks.

After the screening, producer Katy Bladock will be present for a Q+A. Guests will also be able to view the museum’s current exhibits, including “A Life in the Wild” featuring the photographs of Thomas D. Mangelson.
