Filming of Paramount+’s “1923" to bring downtown San Antonio road closures

You’ve probably encountered a downtown road closure due to construction. Annoying, we know — but these upcoming road closures are for a special film project.

The film division of the Department of Arts & Culture and other local entities announced they are actively working with production personnel to facilitate the filming of “1923.” Not familiar with the show? It’s the prequel to the Paramount Network series “Yellowstone.”

Filming is scheduled to occur in downtown San Antonio the week of Monday, Sept. 16 with varying closures along several streets. Here are the anticipated impacts to the area:

Monday, Sept. 16 – Wednesday, Sept.18

  • Sidewalks open
  • Vehicle traffic is closed to Broadway between E. Pecan St. and E. Houston St.; Peacock Alley between Jefferson St. and N. Alamo St.; and E. Travis St. between Jefferson St. and N. Alamo St.
  • Broadway between E. Pecan St. and 3rd St. is open for northbound traffic only.

Thursday, Sept. 19

  • Sidewalks on Broadway between E. Pecan St. and E. Houston St. will be closed during morning filming and expected to reopen by the afternoon.
  • Vehicle traffic is closed to Broadway between E. Pecan St. and E. Houston St.; Peacock Alley between Jefferson St. and N. Alamo St.; and E. Travis St. between Jefferson St. and N. Alamo St.
  • Broadway between E. Pecan St. and 3rd St. is open for northbound traffic only.
  • Businesses remain open and accessible except for that morning.

Friday, Sept. 20 – Wednesday, Sept. 25

  • Sidewalks open
  • Vehicle traffic is closed to Broadway between E. Pecan St. and E. Houston St.; Peacock Alley between Jefferson St. and N. Alamo St.; and E. Travis St. between Jefferson St. and N. Alamo St.
  • Broadway between E. Pecan St. and 3rd St. is open for Northbound traffic only.

The filming closure area will be fully restored by Friday, Sept. 27.
