Meet the mobile clinic
Part of San Antonio’s Metropolitan Health District, the mobile clinic offers a STI Control and Prevention Program. Here are the details:
- Provides testing + treatment for most STIs at no cost.
- Offers testing, referrals for Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis medications, and links to care services.
- The Healthy Beats Program is offered to pregnant people to test + treat for syphilis which could help prevent prevent congenital syphilis.

Getting involved
If you have a passion for public health, consider joining the Medical Volunteer Coordinating Committee (MVCC). This organization is a partnership with Metro Health, the Department of State Health Services Region 8, and several staffing agencies.
The MVCC creates a network of medical + mental health volunteers that are able to respond during public health emergencies. The committee is looking for professionals involved in areas like:
- EMS
- Fire service
- Public works
- Hospitals
