San Antonio is a city that loves to celebrate the richness of its diversity by embracing its people, culture, and unique history through city-wide events for everyone to attend.

Today, we’re highlighting one of the biggest summits in the Alamo City. Now in its 10th year and inspired by the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, DreamWeek is rooted in civil and civic engagement with a goal to make a difference by creating an environment where all can come together to learn, discuss ideas + issues in an effort to create a better future for all.

While there are 200+ events in the month of January — check out the official DreamWeek booklet — here are four to inspire you to be the change.

Past and Present African Americans Contribution Tour | Wed., Jan. 13 | 6-9 p.m. | San Antonio African American Community Archive and Museum, 218 S. Presa | $35 | Join SAAACAM for a 90-minute river barge tour and learn about the historical contributions of past + present African Americans in the heart of the city.

DreamHour Speaker Series | Fri., Jan 15 + Fri., Jan 22-Sat., Jan. 23 | 11 a.m.-6 p.m. | Multiple locations | Free | Sit down and listen to eight local leaders every hour as they discuss important topics that impact the community and its future. In the Kitchen with Black Restaurant Week | Sat., Jan. 22 | Virtual | Free | Experience discussions and demonstrations from local black professionals + tastemakers in the culinary field.

Dream Market | Sun., Jan. 23 & 30 | 12-5 p.m. | Brick at Blue Star Arts Complex | Free | Head on over to Brick for a celebration of micro + small businesses they’ve helped over the last seven years as a launching pad for success.

1 Million Push-Up Challenge | Sat., Jan 15 | 11 a.m.-1 p.m. | Hemisfair Park Plaza | Free, Donation is encouraged | Every push-up counts — Join the challenge + inspire other Alamo City residents to embrace a healthier lifestyle at this closing event.

Uniquely Us Exhibit | Sat., Jan. 15-Sun., Apr. 3 | 9 a.m.-5 p.m. | The DoSeum | $14 | Join this hands-on exhibition that will reflect on history,physical and cultural differences + more.

Immigration Speaker Mini Series | Mon., Jan. 17-Wed., Jan. 19 | 6-8 p.m. | Central Library, 600 Soledad St. | Free | Join San Antonio immigrant community members as they discuss their experiences and perspectives on immigration.

Good People SA Mixer | Thurs., Jan. 20 | 6-8 p.m. | The Dakota East Side Ice House, 433 S. Hackberry | Free | The city’s most diverse mixer will recognize community builders + newbies in business while enjoying good food, drinks, and music.

Hiplet Ballerinas | Sat., Jan. 22 | 8 p.m. | Jo Long Theatre | $35 | Experience Hiplet performances with its trademark sass, hip movements, and struts, all under popular music from Black Violin to Beyonce.

Walk A Mile in My Shoes | Sat., Jan. 29 | 10 a.m.-2 p.m. | Ella Austin Community Center; 1023 N Pine1023 N Pine | Free | Designed by Retired San Antonio Police Officer Troy Smith, this day-long training program is a place where police and the community can interact and get to know each other.
