On This Day
On Sept. 4, 2014, the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts first opened its doors to the public. On Sept. 3, 1926, its predecessor, the San Antonio Municipal Auditiorium, was dedicated to the memory of local citizens killed in World War I — before being razed in 2009 + reimagined as today’s Tobin.
Closing
After 10 years, local ramen spot Nama Ramen is closing at the end of September. Founded in 2015, the restaurant moved to its Babcock Street space in 2021. Owner Kevin Chu wrote: “Nama is coming to an end, but I promise this isn’t the last y’all will hear from me.” (MySA)

The San Antonio Spurs are mobilizing support for the upcoming November Project Marvel vote with a new “WinTogether” campaign. It will kick off on Saturday, Sept. 6 at 6 p.m. at Idle Beer Hall and Brewery, with featured appearances by the Coyote Hype Squad and some other “special guests.” (Spectrum Local News)

In a unanimous vote, New Braunfels City Council just approved a $950,000 incentive package designed to attract a Lefko Plastics subsidiary to the area. The incentive will support the company’s proposed 40,000-sqft plant in New Braunfels to manufacture custom plastic parts for medical, transportation, and other industries. Edgewood ISD has announced its next Superintendent’s Community Council meeting to be held on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at the EISD Conference Center. The meeting is designed to share ideas and support success of Edgewood ISD students. Come hungry — breakfast will be provided.

Patriot Academy’s bid with Kendall County to incorporate as its own city has been put on hold as Kendall County officials seek to get a legal opinion from the Office of the Attorney General. The creation of the proposed municipality, “Constitution City,” will not be on the November ballot. (San Antonio Express-News)
